What is this?
This is FABtastic: a website to check hero and card popularity to help you build your Flesh and Blood decks. You can check hero popularity rankings, card inclusion rates, and, most importantly, auto-generated average decks. This is a personal project to cover my own needs for this game, but you're more than welcome to use it too. That's more or less what this is about.
A bit of history about the project
I'm an avid Magic: The Gathering player, and when I got into Flesh and Blood, it saddened me to find that many of the tools available for Magic didn't quite have a counterpart in this game. I wanted to play a certain hero, but I didn't know which decklists were good or not, so I could only rely on tournament-winning decklists. But what if I wanted to play a more obscure hero? I could only find old lists, which had banned cards or were irrelevant to the current state of the game. So I could only guess by reading decklists and eventually picking one. As you can imagine, that was less than optimal.
I looked for something similar to EDHREC, called FABrec, developed by the same team. But the project feels very bare-bones compared to its Commander counterpart, and looks abandoned since High Seas. Also, without a way to filter by card, the data was a mess, mixing cards from one build with another. There are other tools more focused on meta percentages, like Fablazing, which are great, but they don't show the card popularity data I wanted, the kind I get when building a Commander deck. So I built my own.
Where does the data come from?
Tournament decklists come from the Legend Story Studios Decklists Archive. Hero profiles, card identities, images, and legalities are enriched from official Flesh and Blood services and Card Vault. FaBrary is also the destination for average-deck exports.
How can I support this project?
I'm just one person with very limited resources, so every little bit of help is more than welcome. Right now the DNS and hosting cost around 120€ a year, so it would be great if the site could pay for itself. Right now I've only set up a Ko-fi profile for donations, since I'm really against paid advertising. I'm a firm believer in the "joy of not being sold anything" mindset, and I want to keep it that way. But if the project grows and donations aren't enough, I'll consider some light, unintrusive ads or partnerships.
